Terms of service
Terms of service
These are the terms you agree to when you buy from Royaltails or use this site. We've written them to be read rather than skimmed past.
Last updated: September 2026
Who these terms are for
By placing an order or using this site you accept these terms, along with our shipping policy, our return and refund policy, and our privacy policy. Those three are part of this agreement.
You need to be at least 18 and able to enter a contract where you live. We sell to people buying for themselves and their own dogs, not for resale.
How an order works
When you check out you're making an offer to buy. The contract exists once we email you to confirm the order has shipped. Until then we can decline or cancel it and refund you in full, and occasionally we will, for reasons like these:
The size you picked has sold out between your order and our dispatch.
A price or description on the site was wrong. We'll tell you the correct price and you decide whether you still want it.
The address can't be delivered to, or the order looks fraudulent.
The order looks like it's for resale rather than for a dog.
Prices
Prices are in US dollars and include shipping. We can change prices at any time, but never on an order you've already placed. If we've made an obvious pricing mistake we're not obliged to honour it, and we'll always give you the choice rather than quietly charging you more.
What we say about the product
We describe our coats as accurately as we can, including measurements, materials and weights. Two things to keep in mind. Colours shift between screens, so what you see won't be an exact match for what arrives. And measurements are taken flat, with a small tolerance either way, as with any sewn product.
Breed names in our size guide are a guide only. Two dogs of the same breed can measure inches apart, which is why we ask you to measure your own dog and why the Perfect Fit Promise exists.
Using the coat safely
Please read this part properly. It's the section that matters most.
Our coats are cold-weather clothing. They are not safety equipment, not a flotation device, and not a vehicle restraint. Don't use one as any of those things.
The D-rings on the back are reinforced and stitched into the zip line, and you can clip a leash to them for everyday walking. They are not a replacement for a proper harness. For a dog that pulls hard, a dog that's reactive, a dog being walked near traffic, or any situation where a failure would be dangerous, use a harness. Check the rings and the stitching before each walk and stop using the coat as a leash attachment the moment either shows wear.
Don't leave a dog unsupervised in the coat. Fabric, zips and straps can catch on fences, crates, branches and furniture. A dog that chews its own coat can swallow material.
A coat changes how a dog regulates heat. Take it off indoors and in mild weather, and check that your dog isn't overheating on longer walks. Don't use one on a dog whose skin is broken, irritated or recovering from surgery unless your vet says it's fine.
You know your dog and we don't. Deciding whether this coat suits your dog, and supervising your dog while it's on, is your call and your responsibility.
Our warranty, and the limits of it
The one-year warranty in our return and refund policy is the warranty we give. It covers the zip, the stitched seams and the D-ring attachments failing under normal use, and it's a limited warranty rather than a full one.
Beyond that warranty and the rights the law gives you regardless, we don't make further promises about the product, express or implied. Nothing here takes away a right you have under the law that can't be signed away, and if any part of this section isn't enforceable where you live, the rest still stands.
Liability
Where the law allows it, our total liability to you for anything connected to an order is limited to what you paid for that order.
We're not liable for indirect or consequential losses: vet bills that follow from a use we've warned against above, lost time, or costs you incur because a delivery ran late.
To be clear about what we're not excluding: we don't limit our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can't be limited under the law that applies to you. Some places don't allow the exclusions above at all, in which case they simply don't apply to you.
Reviews and photos you send us
If you send us a review, a photo or a video, you're giving us permission to use it on our site, in our emails and in our advertising, with your first name and last initial. You keep ownership of it. Tell us if you want it taken down and we will.
Only send us photos you took yourself, of your own dog.
We publish reviews as they're written. We don't edit them to change what someone meant, we don't delete a review for being critical, and we don't publish reviews from people who haven't used the product. If a review came from someone who received a free coat, it says so next to the review.
Our site and our brand
The Royaltails name, our logo, our photography and the text on this site belong to us. You're welcome to link to us and to share our pages. You're not welcome to copy our product photos or our copy into your own listings, or to use our name in a way that suggests we endorse you.
Things you can't do here
Don't try to break into the site, scrape it at scale, interfere with how it runs, place orders under a false identity, or use it for anything unlawful. We can refuse service to anyone doing any of that.
If these terms change
We can update these terms, and the date at the top tells you when we last did. The version in force when you place an order is the version that governs it, so a later change never applies backwards to something you've already bought.
Disputes
If something's wrong, email us first. Almost everything gets solved that way, usually the same day, and it's faster than any formal route.
These terms are governed by Dutch law, and any dispute we can't resolve between us goes to the competent Dutch court. This doesn't take away any right you have to bring a claim where you live if the law where you live gives you that right.
The rest
If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest carries on. Not enforcing a term straight away doesn't mean we've given it up. These terms, plus the three policies named at the top, are the whole agreement between us about your order.
Questions about any of this? Email support@shoproyaltails.com. A person reads it and answers, usually the same day.
